Is the chin float comfortable for smaller dogs?
Yes — the chin float is padded with soft neoprene and shaped to rest lightly under your dog's jaw. It only engages when your dog is in the water, so it stays out of the way on land. Small breeds (XS/S) find it especially helpful since they tire faster in the water.
Will this work for a dog who's never worn a life vest before?
Absolutely. Most dogs adjust within one or two sessions. We recommend putting the vest on for short land sessions first (10–15 min, with treats) so your pup associates it with good things before you hit the water.
Can it get wet and dry quickly between uses?
Yes. The outer shell is marine-grade water-resistant fabric that sheds water fast, and the foam interior is closed-cell so it won't absorb water. Air-dry in the shade — usually dry within 2–3 hours.
How do I know which size to order?
Measure your dog's chest circumference (just behind the front legs) with a soft measuring tape. Match that number to our size chart above. When in doubt, size up — the adjustable straps handle the extra room.
Is the handle strong enough to lift my dog out of water?
Yes. The top grab-handle is reinforced with double-stitched nylon webbing rated to safely lift dogs up to 88 lbs. It's designed for exactly this — pulling your dog out of a boat, off a dock, or up onto a pool ledge.
What if the size doesn't fit right when it arrives?
We offer free size exchanges within 30 days of delivery. Just email us at hello@pawdle.com and we'll send the new size before you ship back the original.
